Destroyers rebuilt the house!

Destroyers / Builders
Inspired by architectural shapes, the furniture pieces highlight the field between industry and human, through diverse materials. The interventions and finish by hand, give these objects a tactile aspect. The contrast in materials, the touchabilty, and the human traces that are still visible in the object, explain the method of Destroyers/Builders. Both contemporary and classical fragments are the base of the visual language. The Bolder Chair and Bolder Seat are inspired by columns, a diversity in white tones that can often be seen in old columns. Cross Vault is an ode to cross vaults, originally built up in brick. Archetype Daybed is inspired by old carving techniques.
Destroyers/Builders is a Brussels based design studio. With a focus on materiality the studio strives for sensory relevance and cultural value in detail and bigger scale. Their works have a sculptural and architectural character, but are always on the edge of contemporary material use and traditional crafts. The studio takes on projects that range from commissions to self-initiated projects, and extends across the realms of both product and interior design.

Memphis touch. Nathalie du Pasquier is in the house !

She was a founder member of Memphis for which she designed many textiles, carpets, furniture and objects. When the group broke up in 87, painting became her main activity.

Now she present vases and cups in an explosion of colors. All combined elements that form a set of combined cones and cylinders. The design process of the pieces started on paper; the concept was then transformed into wooden constructions and eventually finalised in ceramics, where it came out as geometric compositions of different elements and colours.

CAROLINE NOTTE, SCULPTRICE D’ESPACES

PHOTOGRAPHY EXHIBITION ALAIN RICHARD 21/02/2018 – 21/05/2018

Alain Richard has been keen on astronomy since a young age; he loves stars, nebulae and galaxies. The objective of this Belgian photographer could only be fascinated by this diffuse space between the stars, both immaterial and material, a heterotopic space, a place of illusion and perfection.
Two trips to Chile, in 2009 and in 2014, in the Atacama desert, are at the origin of the Interstellar series. The pictures were taken from a scientific observatory located in SOLO SHOW in the Andes Cordillera at 2500 meters altitude where Alain Richard spent many nights observing the cosmos. Next to his Andean photos taken on the spot, he then creates images created in his studio which he darkens completely to reconstitute articiellement this time, skies and clouds composed of vapors of dry ice. All this with the help of different techniques, lighting games and shooting in very highresolutions. A rich and long work of composition and chromium, always inspired by the views seized in Chile.

_________________________________________

Biography

Alain Richard is known for his large scale, beautiful photographs of natural landscapes. His photographs depict starry nights, the Moon, the sea, mountains and volcanic craters, the Universe that surrounds us. They are void of human presence and there is no narrative. The viewer is urged to be lost in time and space. Born in 1968 Alain Richard finished his art degree at IATA/Institut des Arts Techniques Siences et Artisanats/ in Namur , Belgium.

After graduation he focused on fashion photography and while very young he worked with the industry’s best known photographers in Paris, France. At 26 he built his first professional photography studio and embarked on a very successful career as fashion photographer. Professionally, Alain’s work was published in Vogue/American and French/, ELLE, W, Marie-Claire and many others

While traveling for various photoshoots, Alain started taking his first quite accomplished photographs of the Moon and the stars. Often working alone , in the middle of the night at isolated places in Chile, Alain was fascinated with the beauty of the Earth which led to a full time occupation as a fine art photographer. Today, Alain Richard photographs have been exhibited widely through out the world, from NYC to Eastern Europe and Asia and enjoys a successful career.
